Shrinathji (Shri Krishna) Temple

In the heart of Manama Suq, in all its majestic grandeur, stands the Shrinathji (Shri Krishna) Temple. With the blessings of the Royal family, the temple was established around 1800s, by the Thattai Bhatia Hindu Community, who had migrated from Sindh(undivided India). It has been in the limelight due to its central location within the area marked for "Little India In Bahrain" (LIIB), which spans the area between Bab Al Bahrain and Al Hadrami Street.
It holds the distinction of being one of the first and the oldest temple in the Gulf countries and has been catering to the needs of the large Hindu expatriate community, since centuries.  The temple's architecture, with decorated miniature elephants marching beside red, yellow and pink floral patterns, reflects traditional Hindu temple designs. The inner sanctum is dedicated to Lord Shrinathji  ( originating from Nathdwara, Rajasthan - India). People from various backgrounds gather here at Shrinathji Temple to celebrate festivals like Holi, Diwali, Krishna Janmashtami, Navratri, Durga Puja, Ganesh Utsav, Onam etc.  The Temple opens during scheduled timings as per the protocol of Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara.  Devotees are expected to dress modestly and shorts/ revealing attire is not permitted. The Temple plays a vital role in maintaining the cultural identity of the Hindu community in Bahrain. It also acts as a focal point for social gatherings and charitable activities.
