Often overlooked, the Islamic Fort is nestled between the Imposing Qala't Al Bahrain and the Bahrain Fort Museum on the waterfront at the edge of the village of Karbabad. Discovered by Danish excavations in 1955-56 and 1977-78, the ruins of this fort show the intricate outline of a building some 52.5 square meters.
Ceramics found at the location have been dated to the beginning of the Christian era and other remains indicate that the fort was occupied again around middle of the 7th century Hijra, the 13th of the Christian era.
